SNAKE HANDLER
10" x 8"
ink, acrylic, aerosol enamel, gold gilding, on plexiglass
signed and numbered edition of 3
2026
the expanding world in old and new and old techniques. melding elements from screen print, sign painting, and reverse glass gold gilding. taking cues from the likes of old reverse-gilded bar mirrors and store-front glass, and retooling it to a modern independent fine art presentation and purpose.
at the core an evolution of standing 'give up' process: central hand and snake created from original photos shot by the artist, photocopy manipulated and degraded, and collaged by hand with scissors and glue. final image then screen-printed in black ink on reverse of heavy 3mm thick plexiglass with a hand-painted 'fill' in light grey and white acrylic. dark green background spatter applied in aerosol enamel before a final tonal light green aerosol background flood. 'drops' in palm gilded in three layers of gold leaf, burnished lightly for depth of texture. the whole thing 'sealed' from the back in a final layer of enamel paint. signed, numbered, and dated on reverse.
final work measures 10" x 8". presented and sold in-frame and ready to hang in 10.625" tall by 8.625" wide by 1.25" deep black frames.
produced in an extremely limited edition of only 3 total pieces. the random nature of the dark green background spatter making all 3 pieces in the series unique works unto themselves.
framed works shipped wrapped, padded in bubbled wrap, and double-boxed for safety in transit. USPS priority rate insured in the US. currently not available for international shipping (any international orders will be canceled and refunded minus transaction fees).
