HAMMER HOG
8.5" x 11”
toner, paper, china marker, ink, glue
2026

as a declaration of ambition the artist has endeavored to produce 52 cut paper collages before the end of 2026. this piece represents the 33rd collage in the series.

as the year progresses the finished art from some will surely go towards shirts or prints or to use by bands, but at present the objective is to omit any works produced specifically as band/brand commissions from the 52 tally. not all collages within the series will be made available for purchase.

this original “hammer hog” piece was constructed in the same manner as all other GIVE UP works: assembled from original photographs shot by the artist that have been manipulated and re-sized on a photocopier for contrast and toner degradation. the respective elements then hand collaged using scissors and glue. fine details and shadows added in ink and china marker. signed on front in pencil, dated and numbered on reverse.

this particular piece is composed from 6 separate photos, cut apart and re-assembled in 11 pieces. the original skull is from a hog shot and harvested in texas by my friend john. after discovering the photos taken myself weren't going to work for this application - and distance being an issue - john reshot them for me. ears and fur are from a hog culled and photographed by the artist. anvil was documented in utah. hammers are from the tool shed. background spatter was sprayed in black aerosol on white paper then inverted on the photocopier for final use here.

presented framed under glass in a black frame with white mat, ready to hang (in-frame photos shot with glass removed to prevent any glare in documentation. final piece ships with glass intact). central image area measures ~7.5" x ~7.5", affixed to 8.5” x 11” sheet of plain paper. total presentation with frame measures 12” high x 15” wide x 0.75” deep.

ships padded in bubble wrap and doubled boxed for safety, USPS priority rate insured in the US. (not available for international shipping. any international orders will be canceled and refunded minus applicable fees.)
