functional outsider folk-art sound object instrument.

effectively a contact mic housed in a 4.25”W x 3.25”H x 1”D altoid-style metal box with a quarter inch jack and grip-tape on top. all soldered, drilled, and assembled by ‘GIVE UP’ as tangible extension of and accompaniment to the artist’s HORDERS sound project.

plug directly into your amp with a standard guitar cord and scratch the top of the box with a nail, or bang against the table, and you’re generating sound. run it through a distortion pedal, delay, reverb, and/or any combination of effects pedals of your taste and choosing and scratch to generate walls of crunching harsh noise and feedback.

comes wrapped in 10.5” x 4” photocopy-on-paper presentation, signed and dated on reverse, with a baggie enclosed within the tin containing a nail, two pieces of incense, and a smokey quartz crystal.

could you build one of these yourself? yes. easily. are there other builders making similar devices? definitely. but i made this one. and now you can possess/use it.
