HORDERS 'enucleist' EP + zine

after some years of lying fallow HORDERS - the aural extension of the visual art of 'give up' - sees the release of new material in the form of this "enucleist" EP. a slight departure in sound from the previous meandering, acoustic-forward, instrumental output, the 7 songs on this album take a slightly more structured approach. drawing inspiration (if not sonic influence) from the likes of WINTER, STARKWEATHER, and early INNUMERABLE FORMS, the tracks presented here distill death metal and sludge riffs down to their most minimalist, glacially slow, down-tuned, ham-fisted, repetative essence. accompanied by cavernous vocals entertaining themes of loss, violence, despair, and leftist resistance against unjust institutionalized tyrannical control, the whole thing is soaked in reverb dense layers of droning noise.

released by SIN EATER RECORDS and presented on pro-CDr both for the low-end mix and the novelty of the media, the EP is housed in a DVD scale (7.5" x 5.5") 50 pt chipboard cover with hand screen-printed inner and outer covers, wrapped in an additional screen-printed obi strip. the accompanying 24 page pro-printed zine features lyrics and visuals that reflect and inform the bleak nature of the audio as much as the sound inspires the art. all art, printing, layout, and assembly by 'give up'. from front to back as much a tribute to DIY spirit as a nod to the intentionally inaccessible nature of the project. the mirror flatters not.

all songs written, performed, recorded, and mixed by HORDERS. drums re-tracked, performed, and recorded by nick lombard (BREAK TIME, GAY MARRIAGE, 50-50, etc). featuring a guest vocal performed and recorded by alex hughes (HATRED SURGE, IRON AGE, etc), and an additional guitar lead/noise passage written and performed by jason friedman (THE BURDEN, PACK MENTALITY, PRIDE KILLS, etc) recorded by ramzi beshara. final mastering by ramzi beshara at CENTRAL SOUND RECORDING.
